Power Pack Backpack Program

“There are many children that rely on resources such as free or reduced-priced school breakfast and lunch in Pennsylvania. The BackPack program is designed to meet the needs of these children at times when school resources are not available, such as weekends and school vacations.” -Central Pennsylvania Food Bank Website (www.centralpafoodbank.org).

Resident Service Coordinators pack and deliver food supplies to families in Tioga and Bradford Counties each week. In total, more than 70 children receive food from this program.

Fresh Express

“In striving to provide nutritious food to our neighbors in need, the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank operates the Fresh Produce Distribution Program. The Food Bank receives millions of pounds of fresh produce and dairy products from both local and national donors. Since these products have a short shelf life, the Food Bank takes the perishable products directly to people in need.” -Central Pennsylvania Food Bank Website

The Fresh Express Program was first introduced to TBHRA in May of 2013 at Page Manor in Athens and Keystone Manor in Sayre, PA, and now includes Colonial Towers in Towanda, Riverside Park in Blossburg , and Liberty Cottages in Liberty. The program was designed to address hunger needs for eligible recipients throughout central and northeastern Pennsylvania. Each month, in addition to nonperishable foods, tenants receive fresh fruits, vegetables and a variety of baked goods.
