Authority Installs Message Boards

The Tioga County Housing Authority recently purchased message boards to be installed at each of their family housing sites.

“This is an ideal way to make certain our tenants are aware of local events, happenings, and services that may be of benefit to them,” said the Authority’s Executive Director, Kelley Cevette. “One of the primary goals of our Resident Services Program is to keep our folks “in the loop” as to what is happening in their respective communities.”

The boards are similar to those that can often be seen at state parks, campgrounds, and scenic overlooks. They are large enough to contain a variety of information as well as brochures that will be restocked on a monthly basis by the Authority’s Resident Service Coordinators. The Authority has reached out to various local service agencies to assure up to date information is consistently provided.

“These boards will allow us to make information visible to tenants who may not have Internet access or access to other forms of local media,” said Service Coordinator, Crystal Barnard. “Our tenants sometimes miss out on events like job fairs, free vaccinations, or educational opportunities simply because they are not aware they are happening.”

In addition to the message board already installed in Blossburg, additional boards will soon be seen at sites in Elkland, Westfield, Nelson and Lawrenceville, PA.
