EMERGENCY RENTAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
Tioga County has received funding through United States Department of the Treasury Emergency Rental Assistance Program to provide rental and utility assistance to renters who have experienced job loss or a reduction in annual income during the Coronavirus pandemic, as well as Landlords that have lost rental income because a renter has experienced job loss or a reduction in income as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic.
To qualify for the program, applicants must document a reduction in annual income, related to COVID-19, since March 13, 2020; qualify for unemployment benefits; or incurred significant financial hardship during COVID-19. Applicant’s income may not exceed 80% of the Area Median Income for Tioga County ($36,350 for an individual up to $68,550 for an eight-person household). Priority will be given to applicants who are at or below 50% of the Area Median Income.
Payments can be made on behalf of the applicant for a maximum of eighteen (18) months of assistance, from March 13, 2020 to current. Payments will be made directly to the landlord or utility companies on behalf of the applicant. Landlords may apply on behalf of their renter.
Applications will be accepted beginning March 8, 2021. Applications should be submitted thru the COMPASS website at www.compass.state.pa.us/
